Wow!  We’ve had two pretty incredible Days of Giving, don’t you think?  Whether you participated in one or both, or are just learning about the Day of Giving, welcome!  We are working hard to make our third Day of Giving SUPER!  Lets continue the trend we witnessed from 2011 to 2012:

  • 23% increase in # of gifts
  • 25% increase in donations
  • 60% increase in match funds
  • 31% increase in total amount distributed

There are so many wonderful nonprofit organizations in our area that are in need of and deserving funding, and we are proud that we found a way to give back to ALL OF YOU.

We are now preparing for our third annual Day of Giving on May 9, 2013. Below are eligibility guidelines and tips for how to prepare for the Day of Giving.

Nonprofits in or serving Armstrong County are eligible. Your organization must be a 501(c)3 organization (or otherwise eligible for tax-deductible donations, if you’re not sure, ask!). Once we’ve approved your registration, you will be listed here, where donors can easily find you, learn more about you, and give to your organization on the Day of Giving, May 9, 2013.

For Approved Nonprofit Organizations, Here’s How It Will Work

Once you become an approved organization, it’s time to reach out to your supporters. Donations must be made to the Armstrong County Community Foundation with your organization designated, and the donations must be made ON MAY 9, 2013. There are three ways to accomplish this:

1. Write a check to ACCF with approved nonprofit organization name in memo and hand deliver it to 160 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA 16201 ON MAY 9th.

2. Write a check to ACCF with approved nonprofit organization name in memo and mail it to 160 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA 16201 ON MAY 9th (must be postmarked May 9, not received in the mail May 9).

3. Make a secure online donation with approved nonprofit organization designated ON MAY 9th [*online fees will be deducted from your donation, so please
consider adding (2.2% + $0.30)]. The link will be attached to your profile here.

After all donations have been collected, we will send your approved organization a check totaling the donations designated to you PLUS your portion of the match money from the Match Fund. The % match will be determined based on how much money is raised during the entire day.

  • Day of Giving Guidelines

    1.Nonprofit organizations [501(c)3] wishing to participate in the Day of Giving must attend the Nonprofit Training on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at ACMH Continuing Education Room, 2nd Floor, Kittanning, PA 16201 from 10am-2pm. If extenuating circumstances prevent the ability to attend this training, you must contact Jessica at ACCF to make alternate arrangements.

    2.Nonprofit organizations [501(c)3] in or serving Armstrong County must complete a profile by April 30, 2013 on www.ArmstrongGives.org to be eligible, and submit a copy of their IRS Determination Letter to ACCF, 160 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA 16201. Other Foundations and religiously affiliated organizations are not eligible to participate, unless they are raising money for a particular community project that serves the larger community. Based on the submitted information, ACCF will determine if the organization is eligible. If it is, the organization will be approved and the profile will be published on www.ArmstrongGives.org.

    3.Each approved organization is eligible to receive funds with no maximum limit for the organization; HOWEVER, only gifts of $20 (minimum) to $5,000 will be matched. Donations must be a minimum of $20. Organizations are prohibited from donating to themselves. Previous pledges, other regular gifts, or grants are ineligible for matching dollars.

    4.All donations for approved nonprofits must be made payable to the ACCF, with the organization designated to qualify for matching funds.

    5.Every approved organization that receives contributions during the Day of Giving will receive a portion of the match. The matching dollars will be pro-rated, and will depend upon the total amount of the Match Fund, and the total amount of donations received.

    6.All qualifying donations must be received on or postmarked on May 9, 2013. Online, check, and cash donations will be accepted. Donations hand delivered after business hours can be left in the mail slot. The address is 160 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA 16201. Online fees generated from donations will be deducted from the total online donation for that organization. Nonprofit organizations may ask their online donors to give a few extra dollars to cover this cost. Fee calculation is 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction.

    7.The ACCF is not eligible to participate or receive matching funds.
