Patti Miller  (on the left in the blue suit) retired from the Armstrong County Chamber of Commerce after 15 years at the post.  Staff, former staff, board members and friends gathered at the Allegheny Mariner today to wish her well.  Best wishes, Patti–we will miss you!

The Armstrong County Community Foundation was happy to participate in Light Up Night this weekend in both Kittanning and Ford City. 

Many thanks to B. J. Burton, our engineer, who drove the children’s train ride donated by Randy and Brenda Johns of R & B Trucking, Ford City.  Thank you–the children loved it! 

Thank you also to Rosebud Mining Company, who graciously allowed us the use of their “porch” to give away notepads, piggy banks, and cookies to thank Armstrong Countians for their support of the ACCF.

Jessica Coil, Director of the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau, announces “Project 365″ to attendees at the Tourist Bureau’s annual luncheon last week. Beginning January 1, photographers–amateur and professional alike–will be able to upload photos to a special page on the Tourist Bureau’s website, courtesy of the Armstrong County Community Foundation.

The goal is to tell the world what we love about Armstrong County, so be thinking about that person, place, or thing that illustrates just how special Armstrong County is! Jess and I will keep you posted, so start grabbing those great shots now. There will be a “Photo of the Month” and a Grand Prize at the end of the year.

The ACCF is proud to be furthering our mission of improving the quality of life of the residents of Armstrong County by this and other efforts to facilitate community and economic development. Join us!

Infinity, the women’s giving circle of the Armstrong County Community Foundation, awarded its second grant award to Arts on the Allegheny at the Infinity Autumn Masquerade Monday evening.  Mary Ann Valasek, Chairperson of AotA accepted the award.

Infinity, formed in 2006, granted its first award in 2007.  Women and Girls Foundation of Southwestern Pennsylvania received the $500 award to further their women and sports initiative.

Arts on the Allegheny received the 2008 award in the amount of $1000.  The women of Infinity are very excited at how their component fund at the ACCF has grown, and invite other women to join them.  For more information about Infinity, visit their webpages at accfound.org/infinity.

The animated board basics conference and a virtual bag of resources are available FREE on CompassPoint’s Nonprofit Services website.

This new online program will give you a new and interesting way to explore what it means to serve on a nonprofit board. “Nonprofit Board Basics” is FREE and can be accessed anytime and anywhere you have an internet connection.

Moraine Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America! Mark McHaddon and Rick McCartney of Moraine Trails Council accept the $10,000 check from Kristy Green, Grantmaking Committee Chairperson and ACCF Board Member.

We are pleased to award this top community vote-getter our $10,000 10th Anniversary Grant Award.  The project, which purchases supplies for community projects all over the county, really captured the spirit of the application process.
