March 2nd, Dr. Suess’ birthday, is Read Across America day.
The Armstrong School District’s television show, “Education Today,” celebrates Read Across America day with a special segment including the ACCF’s AmeriCorps member Paula Rummel and our early reading initiative Armstrong Books for Children. The research is clear–children who are read to and who read for pleasure are significantly more successful in school. The key to success is early literacy; children must enter Kindergarten with a love of books and reading learned at home. This “Education Today” episode will appear on Comcast/WIUP Channel 20 at 6 pm every night through March 4th, and on Comcast Channel 21 at 6 pm tonight, March 1st.
